Getting StartedRetirement may seem like a long way off, but you can do a lot today to assure a comfortable lifestyle in the future. Create a budget: Review your expenses and income, set spending priorities and make room for retirement savings. Establish credit: Build credit history with a credit card or personal loan, and pay on time. Manage debt: Don't take on more than you can afford, and always leave room for contingencies. Determine insurance needs: Be sure you, your family, and your assets are appropriately protected in the case of an unfortunate life event. Health, life and property insurance can assist in the event of disability, death or damage. Set goals: Saving for a house, college tuition, or even a vacation requires time and prioritization; but always allow for retirement savings when setting short- and mid-term goals. Save for retirement: Time is your best friend, so start today! Whether it is an IRA, an employer 401(k), or a savings or certificate account, regularly setting aside something today for your retirement tomorrow will pay off. |
